B Camshaft Profile Actuator A Control Performance/Stuck Off Bank 1
Exhaust cam profile actuator A on bank 1 stuck disengaged. Same fault pattern as P003C but on the exhaust cam. The cam phaser actuator adjusts intake/exhaust timing under load — a stuck or slow phaser kills mid-rpm torque and can throw correlation codes between cam and crank.
Affected components
- Cam profile actuator exhaust
- Oil control valve
Common causes
- High likelihood: Oil control valve stuck
- Low likelihood: Carbon or debris buildup preventing free movement
- Low likelihood: Component wear with age - mechanical play
Possible symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Power loss especially in mid-rpm range
- Possible rough idle or stalling
- Increased fuel consumption
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
- A drive cycle may be required after repair
