Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "B" Circuit High Input

The B channel voltage is above the upper diagnostic threshold, typically caused by a short to supply voltage or a defective sensor.

Affected components

  • Throttle position sensor b
  • Tps wiring

Common causes

  • High likelihood: TPS B circuit shorted to supply voltage
  • Medium likelihood: TPS B element failed
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Reduced throttle response, possible limp mode
  • Hesitation or surging
  • Idle too high or too low

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • This code can affect emissions
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
