Knock/Combustion Vibration Control System Error
The knock-control subsystem reports an internal error — typically a self-test fault or a noise floor that cannot be calibrated. The system protects against detonation by retarding ignition; with this fault knock control is disabled.
Affected components
- Knock sensor
- Powertrain control module
Common causes
- High likelihood: Internal knock-control fault
- Low likelihood: Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
- Low likelihood: CAN terminating resistor (120 Ω) drifted out of spec
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
