Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input (Bank 1)

The CMP signal voltage is below the lower threshold. Most often a sensor with degraded internal output or a short to ground.

Affected components

  • Camshaft position sensor
  • Camshaft position sensor wiring

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Sensor failed
  • Medium likelihood: Signal shorted to ground
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Power loss especially in mid-rpm range
  • Possible rough idle or stalling
  • Increased fuel consumption

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • This code can affect emissions
  • A drive cycle may be required after repair
