Shift Solenoid G Performance/Stuck Off
Shift solenoid G is electrically intact, but its hydraulic effect is missing — when commanded on, the gear it should engage does not lock up. Either the solenoid is mechanically stuck closed, the valve body bore is worn, or hydraulic pressure does not reach the clutch pack.
Affected components
- Shift solenoid g
- Valve body
- Clutch pack
Common causes
- High likelihood: Solenoid stuck closed by debris in the ATF
- Medium likelihood: Worn valve body bore leaking pressure
- Medium likelihood: Old, contaminated transmission fluid
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
