Traction Control Input Signal Range/Performance
The traction control input signal to the ECM reports a input signal range/performance condition. Engine torque reduction during wheel slip cannot be commanded reliably.
Affected components
- Traction control module
- Wiring harness
- Ecm
Common causes
- High likelihood: TCS signal implausible vs. wheel speeds
- Medium likelihood: Module calibration off
- Low likelihood: Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
