Drive Motor B Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

The drive motor B rotor position sensor reports a circuit range/performance fault. Phase commutation cannot be controlled reliably.

Affected components

  • Drive motor b position sensor
  • Wiring harness
  • Hybrid control module

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Sensor mechanically offset
  • Medium likelihood: Electrical noise on signal line
  • Low likelihood: Sensor element aged beyond calibration window

Possible symptoms

  • EV/hybrid system warning light on
  • Reduced motor power or torque
  • Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
