Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit Open

The drive-by-wire throttle motor circuit is open — no current flow detected. The ECU loses authority over the throttle plate and forces a limp-home with reduced power.

Affected components

  • Throttle actuator motor
  • Throttle body wiring

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Throttle motor failed
  • Medium likelihood: Connector loose or corroded
  • Medium likelihood: Wiring break to throttle body

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Reduced throttle response, possible limp mode
  • Hesitation or surging
  • Idle too high or too low

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • This code can affect emissions
  • A drive cycle may be required after repair
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
