Charging System Voltage Low
The ECU detects that battery voltage during operation stays below the regulated target. The alternator output is insufficient to maintain charge under load, eventually leading to battery depletion.
Affected components
- Alternator
- Voltage regulator
- Battery
- Drive belt
Common causes
- High likelihood: Weak alternator output
- Medium likelihood: Faulty voltage regulator
- Low likelihood: Slipping drive belt
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
