Throttle Position Output Circuit

A general electrical fault on the ECU output that broadcasts the throttle position signal to other modules — for example to the transmission control or hybrid drive controller.

Affected components

  • Ecm
  • Vehicle data bus

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Output wire open or shorted
  • Medium likelihood: ECU output stage failed

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Reduced throttle response, possible limp mode
  • Hesitation or surging
  • Idle too high or too low
