The aftertreatment glow plug element itself is open. No current flows even with the relay closed.

Common causes
- High likelihood: Glow element burnt out from age or HC overload
- Medium likelihood: Corroded terminal at the plug body
Possible symptoms
- Glow plug warning light on (often orange coil symbol)
- Hard cold start or no start in cold weather
- White smoke from exhaust during warm-up
