A general transmission performance fault. The transmission controller has detected behaviour outside acceptable bounds (slip, shift quality, ratio error) without a more specific cause.

Common causes
- High likelihood: Worn clutch friction plates
- Medium likelihood: Hydraulic pressure regulation has drifted
- Medium likelihood: Degraded transmission fluid
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
