Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid

A general fault in the torque converter clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid. Lockup feel and slip control are degraded.

Affected components

  • Tcc pressure solenoid
  • Torque converter

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Aged solenoid coil resistance drift
  • Medium likelihood: Worn valve body bore around the solenoid

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
