Gear Shift Lock Solenoid/Actuator A Stuck Off

The shift lock solenoid for selector lever A does not engage when commanded. The selector can be moved without the safety interlock active.

  • Shift lock solenoid a
  • Shift lock actuator a
  • Tcm

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Lock actuator failed mechanically
  • Medium likelihood: Open in solenoid control wire
  • Low likelihood: Carbon or debris buildup preventing free movement

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
