Transmission Range Sensor A/B Correlation

The two range sensor channels A and B do not agree on the same gear selector position. Plausibility check fails after debounce.

Common causes

  • High likelihood: One sensor mechanically misaligned
  • Medium likelihood: Aged switch contacts on one channel

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
