Invalid Data Received From Yaw Rate Sensor Module
A receiving module detected implausible data from the yaw rate sensor module (typically combined with lateral/longitudinal accelerometer). Rotational rate values fail plausibility checks against steering and wheel speed and are rejected; ESC may be inhibited.
Affected components
- Yaw rate sensor module
Common causes
- High likelihood: Module internal fault or sensor input drift
- Medium likelihood: Software version mismatch after replacement
- Low likelihood: Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
Possible symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- A drive cycle may be required after repair
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
