Clutch Position Control Error
On automated manual or dual-clutch transmissions, the actual clutch actuator position deviates from commanded position beyond tolerance. Position sensor and actuator do not agree on closed-loop test.
Affected components
- Clutch actuator
- Clutch position sensor
- Dual clutch assembly
Common causes
- High likelihood: Clutch actuator worn
- Medium likelihood: Clutch disc wear past adaptation
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
