Battery Charger Coolant Control Valve Control Circuit High

Voltage on the battery charger coolant control valve control line is above the expected window. The on-board charger negotiates voltage, current and safety with the EVSE; a fault interrupts charging or limits it to AC slow-charge despite a DC fast charger being attached.

Affected components

  • Battery charger coolant valve
  • Wiring harness

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Wire shorted to B+
  • Medium likelihood: Coil open
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
