EGR Cooling Valve Control Circuit Open
The valve that admits coolant flow to the EGR cooler has an open control circuit - cooling cannot be enabled and EGR temperatures stay too high.

Common causes
- High likelihood: Open in valve or wiring
- Low likelihood: Pin pushed back out of connector body
- Low likelihood: Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor
Possible symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Pinging or knocking under load
- Power loss and hesitation
- Possible rough idle
- Failed emissions inspection (NOx)
