Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit
The position feedback sensor on the variable-geometry or wastegate turbocharger actuator is not communicating or is implausible. Without position feedback, boost control runs in default mode and power is reduced.
Affected components
- Turbocharger actuator
- Turbocharger position sensor
Common causes
- High likelihood: Position sensor failed
- Medium likelihood: Wiring open or chafed near turbo
Possible symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
- A drive cycle may be required after repair
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
