Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Low
The TCM reads a voltage below threshold on the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid control circuit. The TCC may not engage, increasing fuel consumption and converter heat.
Affected components
- Tcc solenoid
- Tcm
- Transmission wiring
Common causes
- High likelihood: Control wire shorted to ground
- Medium likelihood: Internal solenoid short
- Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
