Medium Speed CAN Communication Bus (-) Shorted to Bus (+)
CAN-High and CAN-Low on the medium-speed bus are shorted together. The differential signal collapses; body and comfort modules drop offline.
Affected components
- Can high wire
- Can low wire
Common causes
- High likelihood: CAN-H/CAN-L harness short
- Low likelihood: Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
- Low likelihood: CAN terminating resistor (120 Ω) drifted out of spec
Possible symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
