Shift Solenoid G Electrical

General electrical fault on the shift solenoid G control circuit — open coil, short to ground, short to battery voltage, or driver feedback outside the expected range. The TCM disables this solenoid and falls back to limp-home gear logic to protect the transmission.

Affected components

  • Shift solenoid g
  • Tcm
  • Wiring harness

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Open solenoid coil
  • Medium likelihood: Damaged wiring at the transmission case connector
  • Medium likelihood: ATF-soaked connector causing leakage path

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
