Occupant Classification System Performance
The SRS module reports that the occupant classification system (OCS) on the passenger seat does not behave plausibly. The OCS detects whether the seat is empty, occupied by a small person, or by an adult — and adapts airbag deployment accordingly.
Affected components
- Occupant classification sensor
- Srs control module
- Passenger seat harness
Common causes
- High likelihood: OCS sensor mat aged or damaged
- Medium likelihood: OCS calibration lost — relearn required
- Low likelihood: SRS control module fault
Possible symptoms
- Warning light or symbol related to the affected system
- Comfort or safety function impaired
