Steering Sensor Indicates Bias
The stability control module has detected that the steering wheel position sensor reports a non-zero angle when the vehicle is driving straight. This bias makes ESP intervene incorrectly and the system requires recalibration.
Affected components
- Steering angle sensor
- Esp control module
- Alignment components
Common causes
- High likelihood: Steering angle sensor calibration required
- Medium likelihood: Wheel alignment incorrect
- Low likelihood: Steering angle sensor failed
Possible symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
