Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Circuit High

Steering wheel angle sensor signal voltage above expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

Affected components

  • Steering angle sensor

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Signal wire shorted to battery
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  • Low likelihood: Supply wire pinched against B+ source

Possible symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
