Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too High
The ECU detects fuel rail pressure above the desired setpoint and cannot reduce it through pressure regulator commands. Risk of injector damage and rail seal failure if not addressed.
Affected components
- Fuel pressure regulator
- High pressure fuel pump
- Fuel rail pressure sensor
Common causes
- High likelihood: Pressure regulator stuck closed
- Medium likelihood: Rail pressure sensor drift
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
- A drive cycle may be required after repair
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
