Intake Air Temperature/Fuel Temperature Correlation
Intake air and fuel temperature readings are inconsistent — at long soak both should match ambient. The intake air temperature sensor feeds the ECM's density calculation — a drifted reading miscalculates fuel mass and pushes mixture lean (cold reading) or rich (hot reading).
Affected components
- Iat sensor
- Fuel temp sensor
Common causes
- High likelihood: One sensor drifted
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
