Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction
The ECU detects a general electrical malfunction in the mass air flow (MAF) sensor circuit. The signal is missing, out of plausible range, or the wiring shows continuity issues. Used as a generic fault when no more specific MAF code applies.
Affected components
- Mass air flow sensor
- Maf wiring
- Maf connector
- Intake duct
Common causes
- High likelihood: MAF sensor element contaminated (oil, dust)
- Medium likelihood: MAF wiring or connector damaged
- Medium likelihood: Mass air flow sensor failed
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- This code can affect emissions
- A drive cycle may be required after repair
