Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input (Bank 2)

The bank 2 knock sensor signal is above the expected voltage range. Typically caused by a short to supply voltage or an internal sensor fault.

Affected components

  • Knock sensor
  • Sensor wiring

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Signal wire shorted to supply
  • Medium likelihood: Knock sensor failed
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Power loss from defensive spark retard
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Possible audible pinging under load

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • This code can affect emissions
  • A drive cycle may be required after repair
