The control circuit for the EGR valve solenoid is open or shorted. The ECM cannot drive the valve to the commanded position.

- High likelihood: EGR solenoid winding defective
- Medium likelihood: Wiring or connector fault
- Low likelihood: ECM driver stage damaged
Possible symptoms
- Check engine light on

- Power loss and hesitation
- Possible rough idle
- Failed emissions inspection (NOx)
