Cruise Control Vent Control Circuit Open

The vent solenoid of a vacuum-driven cruise servo - which releases vacuum to drop throttle - has an open control circuit. The servo cannot release vacuum, so cruise speed cannot be reduced.

Affected components

  • Cruise vent solenoid

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Open in solenoid or harness
  • Low likelihood: Pin pushed back out of connector body
  • Low likelihood: Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
