Shift Solenoid G Electrical
General electrical fault on the shift solenoid G control circuit — open coil, short to ground, short to battery voltage, or driver feedback outside the expected range. The TCM disables this solenoid and falls back to limp-home gear logic to protect the transmission.
Affected components
- Shift solenoid g
- Tcm
- Wiring harness
Common causes
- High likelihood: Open solenoid coil
- Medium likelihood: Damaged wiring at the transmission case connector
- Medium likelihood: ATF-soaked connector causing leakage path
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
