6-7 Shift

General fault detected during the 6-to-7 upshift event — slipping during the shift, gear-ratio overshoot, or shift completion timeout. Often a worn friction element on the 7th-gear side or a slow shift solenoid.

Affected components

  • Clutch pack
  • Shift solenoid

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Worn 7th-gear friction element

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
