Control Pilot Indicator Circuit Intermittent/Erratic
The control pilot indicator circuit drops out or jumps intermittently. The on-board charger negotiates voltage, current and safety with the EVSE; a fault interrupts charging or limits it to AC slow-charge despite a DC fast charger being attached.
Affected components
- Control pilot indicator
- Wiring harness
Common causes
- High likelihood: Connector not seated
- Medium likelihood: Wire chafing intermittent
- Low likelihood: Connector with intermittent contact under vibration
Possible symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
