Throttle Position Output Circuit High

The buffered throttle position output is above the expected level. Typical causes are a short to battery or an open output stage.

Affected components

  • Control module
  • Signal output buffer
  • Wiring harness

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Output wire shorted to B+
  • Medium likelihood: Output buffer open
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Reduced throttle response, possible limp mode
  • Hesitation or surging
  • Idle too high or too low
