Transmission Range Sensor B Circuit (PRNDL Input)

The TCM detects an invalid PRNDL signal pattern from transmission range sensor B. The selected gear position cannot be determined reliably from the B-channel.

  • Transmission range sensor b
  • Wiring harness
  • Tcm

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Range switch contact array failed
  • Medium likelihood: Open or short in PRNDL wiring

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
