Shift Motor Phase U-V-W Circuit High

The output stage for the shift motor reports a high phase voltage on at least one of the U/V/W phases. Short to B+ or interrupted load.

Affected components

  • Shift motor
  • Shift motor position sensor
  • Tcm

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Phase wire shorted to B+
  • Medium likelihood: Open motor winding
  • Low likelihood: Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Possible symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
