Shift Motor Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
The shift motor position signal does not correlate with the commanded commutation. Sensor offset or signal integrity degraded.
Affected components
- Shift motor
- Shift motor position sensor
- Tcm
Common causes
- High likelihood: Sensor mechanically offset
- Medium likelihood: Electrical noise on signal line
- Low likelihood: Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Possible symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
- Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
