Forced Hybrid/EV Battery Disconnect

The BMS has forced a disconnect of the high-voltage battery from the vehicle bus. Triggered by safety condition such as overcurrent, isolation fault, or thermal runaway.

Affected components

  • Hv battery
  • Main contactors
  • Bms

Common causes

  • High likelihood: Safety event triggered disconnect
  • Medium likelihood: Isolation fault detected
  • Low likelihood: Pack cell imbalance approaching service threshold

Possible symptoms

  • EV/hybrid system warning light on
  • Reduced power output or limp mode
  • Charging may fail or be slowed
  • Reduced electric range

Diagnostic notes

  • The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
  • Reduced-power or limp mode may occur
