Invalid Data Received from ABS Control Module
A control module is communicating with the ABS module but receives implausible data — wrong wheel speeds, checksum errors or out-of-range values. ESP/ESC and traction control deactivate and adaptive cruise control becomes unavailable.
Affected components
- Abs control module
- Wheel speed sensor
- Can bus wiring
Common causes
- Medium likelihood: ABS internal sensor or processing fault
- Medium likelihood: Wheel speed sensor fault feeding ABS
- Low likelihood: ABS software bug or outdated calibration
Possible symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
Diagnostic notes
- The malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate
